This is when the process of moving cargo between a variety of different transportation methods (freight, air, motor carriers, etc.), but all under the same company. This is similar to multimodal, which is also the moving of cargo via multiple methods, but under different companies for each provider. Using intermodal or multimodal methods can help you find the best, quickest, and cheapest pieces to your logistical puzzle.
