Common Warehousing & 3PL Terms: Reefer

No, this has nothing to do with coral reefs or scuba-diving (sadly), but with refrigerated containers. A reefer is a refrigerated container and is used for keeping perishable items in transit cold and non-perishable. When stocked on a ship, it must be plugged into the ship’s power system, but most reefers have temporary power units that can power them anywhere from 18-36 hours.
